New and Used Cantilever Rack for Sale

Cantilever Rack systems are cantilever style storage shelving designed to manage loads of varying length and proportion, while still staying completely accessible from the front without any of the horizontal restrictions of traditional pallet rack. Without front column obstruction, the entire length of the rack may be used for storage. For added flexibility, loads of differing lengths may be stored on the same rack and even at the same level.

Cantilever Rack Storage Benefits:

Cantilever racks make quick work of storing long and bulky items like lumber, plumbing pipes, bar stock or other long raw materials. These racks utilize a center column with arms providing the actual shelf levels for storing items which can allow for uneven overhang. Traditional pallet racks are limited to the length of the beams used in each section.
More Flexible
Loads may be placed anywhere along the entire length of a row on a cantilever rack.
More Compact
The lack of a front column saves horizontal space normally lost to rack structure. Handling clearance is also more abundant. More selective: Any load or storage slot is immediately accessible.
More Economical
Both reduced handling times and increased space utilization make cantilever racks more cost-efficient. Additionally, cantilever racks become more economical as load length increases, while standard pallet racks increase in costs.

Cantilever Rack FAQ

Cantilever racking systems offer exceptional strength and versatility, making them ideal for storing bulky, irregularly shaped building materials. While commonly used for lumber, pipes, and other oversized items, they can also accommodate products typically stored on conventional pallet racks. With fully adjustable arms, these racks can be customized to fit your inventory’s dimensions, providing a flexible and efficient storage solution. If your warehouse handles large, heavy materials—or a combination of building supplies and smaller items—cantilever racking is a practical, cost-effective choice.
The advantages of cantilever racking depend on the type of inventory you store. If your warehouse handles bulky, irregularly shaped items that are difficult to access with traditional racking systems due to side bars and beams, cantilever racking offers a superior solution. These industrial storage systems enhance material handling efficiency by providing unobstructed access to items from all sides, improving productivity and workflow. Cantilever racks are available in two main configurations: single-sided and double-sided. Single-sided racks are mounted against a wall, while double-sided racks are connected at the back for increased storage capacity. Both options provide outstanding structural stability, space optimization, and adaptability. Additionally, you can choose between fixed or adjustable arms, allowing you to customize the spacing to accommodate different inventory sizes.
Cantilever racking systems have virtually no weight limit. Most cantilever arms can support between 1,500 and 5,000 pounds, with some heavy-duty designs handling up to 18,000 pounds per arm. However, the more critical factor is your warehouse floor’s load-bearing capacity. Fortunately, floors can be reinforced to meet the weight demands of your racking system, ensuring safe and efficient storage for even the heaviest materials.
To calculate the weight capacity per arm, divide the total load weight by the number of supporting arms. For example, if a 5,000-pound load is supported by two arms, each arm must support 2,500 pounds (5,000 ÷ 2 = 2,500). Next, determine the total weight capacity needed for the rack uprights. Multiply the weight capacity per arm by the number of arm levels. If each arm supports 2,500 pounds and there are three levels, the total capacity required for the uprights is 7,500 pounds (2,500 × 3 = 7,500).
Cantilever racking systems are ideal for storing long, heavy, and irregularly shaped items. Common products include metal and steel pipes, steel sheets, plywood, heavy bar stock, lumber, and other bulky materials that require open, unobstructed storage.
Yes, cantilever racking systems are safe when properly designed and installed. Professional installation ensures that the system meets safety regulations and industry standards, reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring a secure storage environment for warehouse workers.
