What is the difference between "Teardrop" and "New Style" pallet rack?

One of the largest pallet rack manufacturers in the world, Interlake Mecalux, produced a type of pallet rack for a period of time called New Style. The rack is very similar to the traditional teardrop style of racking with a slight difference. The easiest way to tell the difference between the two is by looking at the two pictures below.

Teardrop New Style

You'll notice the slightly squared top on the New Style upright that will not allow a traditional teardrop beam to settle into place. While a new style beam will fit into a teardrop upright, a teardrop beam will not fit into a New Style upright. See the chart below for further clarification.

Hopefully this will clear up some of the confusion as this is one of the most common questions we are asked regarding Interlake pallet rack. For more information you can always view our website and continue to check our weekly blogs.
